He left Zelda, and hyrule, to search for his 'lost companion' (navi(?)) he didn't forget about Zelda, and it is implied they had feelings for one another ThatsNotCanon 21:58, May 16, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, the lost companion is Navi. Hyrule Historia confirms it. And the reason Navi left in the first place is because Link liked Zelda rather than her (Miyamoto confirmed that in an interview). I don't think Link actually forgot about Zelda, he just had a sudden flashback after getting the Ocarina back. Timelinesplitter 22:06, May 16, 2012 (UTC)

I'm the asker. I'm sorry - I should have specified more. When Link gets the Ocarina of Time back from Skull Kid atop the Clock Tower, the caption says '...Suddenly, memories of Princess Zelda come flowing back to you...' or something. I meant, how could he have forgotten about her, if he really did forget? Or was the game just using that to remind Link of the song and the protection he had from the Goddess of Time?

^ I think that caption is just saying that in order to explain the flashback itself. I don't think he really forgot her. Timelinesplitter 21:05, May 17, 2012 (UTC)

^ they put that line "suddenly memories of Zelda come flowing back to you" for players who had never played ocarina of time before, just showing a random girl named zelda would've had newcomers confused, while stating that link knew her from his past, and he remembered her, doesn't confuse new players as much, and maybe gets them interested in playing other games of the series
