A curse was put on (presumably the orginal)zelda in Zelda II: Link's Adventure. After that it became customary to name all her(female)decendants zelda, hence, the legend of zelda
I know right! Why can't she be named Steve, Jimmy, Bob, Mark, Dave... Anything!!!!!!
^ Because 5 of those names are guy names and the last one is just plain silly. --Jesus Kravitz 02:34, May 20, 2012 (UTC)
^ I was surprised I got that, haha. Either way, the original reason was supposed to be the prologue of Zelda II: Adventure of Link, or the "Tragedy of Zelda the first". But, that reason wouldn't work anymore, since Zelda II: Adventure of Link was officially told to be the very last game chronologically in the Decline Timeline. ^Well in Skyward Sword the curse on Demise caused the ones who played in killing him share the curse so thats why Link is re born again&again same with Zelda&Imp&Demise to Vatti to Ganondorf ("What? You say? But in four sword adventures Ganon AND Vatti are there!" Well Vatti's physical form was destroyed prior but the mass of evil in him lived on allowing Ganon and Vatti survive parrallel) Then to Bellum(i haven't played spirit tracks)and it will keep going unless some thing fully breaks the curse ending that timeline split.
^ Demise's curse only effects Link and Zelda. It does not effect anyone else. Demise is reborn as Ganondorf (and only Ganondorf) because his hatred is "reborn in a cycle without end". Many people think that Demise's hatred also incarnates into others such as Bellum, Vaati, and Malladus. This is untrue, because in Four Swords Adventure, it is official that he is reincarnated. Not revived, like in most games. This proves that Ganondorf is the only persona that houses Demise's hatred, since he is reincarnated just like Link and Zelda. It is unlikely that Impa was reincarnated along with Link and Zelda because she does not appear in some games Ganondorf appears in (Twilight Princess [Although some believe that Impaz is her], Four Swords Adventure, Wind Waker, and A Link to the Past). One more thing, Vaati physical form was not destroyed per se, it was merely transformed into his hideous bestial form. In any case though, your point does not explain why Zelda is named Zelda all the time. Timelinesplitter 02:19, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
Every princess is named Zelda after the Zelda I in Skyward Sword, who was a reincarnation of Her Grace, the Goddess.
